Hello everyone! I am writing away on the book and things are going well.  It is sometimes overwhelming to try and capture all I want to share in words.

As I get further along, I realize that it is impossible for me to put everything in one book.  It would just be too big! :)  So I am going to split it up into two or more books.  I don't have everything organized yet but when I do I will post what will be in each book.

Thank you for your comments and emails.  And happy spring! (We are getting pounded with snow in Washington but it was warming up before the storm hit. :)

I just witnessed you in action at the music conference in Beaverton and was thrilled. Thank you for all the hard work. It would be wonderful to have a video or on going videos on your web sight of your love of music and teaching. The visual helps me to understand the written word along with the visual aids. I do not have a calling teaching music, but I do have a calling as Grandmother teaching my Grandchildren the love of music. It is marvelous to add to my music fun with your special and spiritual help.
Thank you again and again. The spirit was powerful for me and the Lord certainly is felt through you and your teaching. Bless you! Thoughtfully,
Betty Ludlow

I was also at the same music workshop in Beaverton this past weekend. I have been the primary chorister in our ward for almost 11 years (not consecutive). I never miss when Sharla comes to Portland because she breathes new life into my calling! Our primary music has been vastly improved because of her ideas and techniques. Our last primary program in October 2011 was so powerful - many people commented on how impressed they were because the children knew all of the words to all of the songs and they sang with all of their hearts! The only way we got to where we are in primary has been through implementing Sharla's ideas - teaching through movement, introducing words through "the back door" approach and bearing testimony as appropriate (which is often). Thanks Sharla for sharing your gifts with us and helping our primary love music and especially love to praise their Heavenly Father through music. You are amazing!

Hi! I was wondering how you attach the sand paper to the wooden blocks to make them percussion instruments? I really enjoyed your workshop in Beaverton!

Sharla,
It was truly wonderful to see you again. What an inspiration you are to me! The spirit always testifies to me so strongly whenever I'm at your workshop or see you somewhere else involving music. I don't know why our paths cross on occassion. But they do.
I am so glad that you shared your website with us today at the Bellevue Stake Music Workshop. I came home and began reading some of your information. I'm thrilled that you have this website and will continue working on your book. What a wealth of valuable information.
I have also always loved music. I have thought about a book as well but haven't have a clear vision of what it would be. I did want to inspire people to find the joys of music.
As I read your vision and see what you have done I think an idea of the direction I could possibly go. It will be different from yours but same in that we want to give the glory to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ who have blessed our lives with musical experiences through our different backgrounds.
I will check back to this website once a month to keep encouraging you with your book. Is that okay? May our Heavenly Father's choicest blessings be with you and your family.
Do take care!
Mahalo and Aloha!
Crystal

I love music. I want children, parents and teachers to truly understand music and use it to communicate and enjoy.
