I recently taught a workshop in St. George Utah. It was fantastic. Also, I had a professional film crew there filming the whole thing.  This means that we will have a DVD available soon.  I am really excited to be nearing completion on the book and the DVD.

Thank you so much for your training in St. George. You are an inspiration to me. I took a video of you at the St. George Conference when you taught how to teach "My Heavenly Father Loves Me." I'm sure you know it is the song of the month for February 2013. I'm the stake primary music leader and would like to post the video of you on youtube for the choristers in my stake to see how you did it. I described it in great length in an email, but it just doesn't compare to watching you do it. I just want to get your permission.

Hi, this is Joshua, Sharla's technical consultant and son. :)

You can for sure post the video to YouTube. Just make sure you put a link back to this website (http://www.toteachachildasong.com/) and something like "For more videos and instruction, visit the site" in the video description. When you do that, come back and post a link here we will share it with everyone!

Thanks for asking!

Thanks, Josh! I believe I saw you at the workshop. I could see what a supportive and actively involved son you are. That is what every mother dreams her son will be. :)

Here is the link to the clip.

I am commenting on the previous comment. What did Sharla do to teach this song? I would love a brief description. Thanks!

She taught it in a couple of different ways. We actually video taped the whole conference and will have videos available soon. Hopefully WF Chorister will post her link to the YouTube video and we can use that until the video comes out.

Thank you!

I played several sounds (from my iphone) for them and asked them to guess what they were. (Dog, cat, stream, rain, bird singing) When I got to the bird singing, I began to sing the song. I showed them the pictures I had drawn (kite in the wind, bird, lilacs, child in the rain holding an umbrella, earth) and said they were all mixed up. When I tapped them on the shoulder, could they put the pictures in order while I sang? After they were in order, I asked them to memorize the pictures and put them on their inside chalkboard. I then took down two or three pictures and asked them details about the colors and what exactly was in the pictures. We sang the song seeing the pictures on our inside chalkboards.

This was a fabulous workshop in st George. I was wondering if you could put the pictures she used for Heavenly Father loves me on the website to download as a PDF. I know several clip art options are available from other sites but I haven't found any with a pink bunny and yellow duck! They were such unique images and I loved how the questions she asked really cemented them visually in your mind.

Dear Jenny, You honor me! I drew them after looking at some coloring books about 20 years ago (I can't believe it has really been that long.) I feel reticent putting them on line because I took someone else's images so long ago. I would suggest coloring books online. The most important part is putting those images on your inside chalkboard through the questions you ask. Thank you so much for asking!

Sharla,
I spoke to you in St. George about Let's Play Music. I came here to find Contact information to contact you about coming to the LPM Symposium in June but found no phone number, email, etc.... How can we book you as a speaker? :) You were amazing. Thank you!!

Last Sunday my president said, "Over the last few weeks something has changed about you. You are different somehow. And it shows in how awesome you teach the songs. You make the older kids feel the spirit." Don't worry, I gave you full credit. The St. George workshop was great. Thank you so much.

That's the whole intent! Thank you so much for telling me. And it is not me who deserves the credit... I am only an instrument for Heavenly Father. He loves children. He wants them to be blessed. Thank you again for telling me!
